DESCRIPTION and GENERAL OBJECTIVE:  This is the first course in the introductory Greek sequence, which is designed to prepare students to read, write, speak and understand Modern Greek. Classes will focus on the study of grammar, syntax and vocabulary as well as the reading of adapted passages. The course can be taken by all undergraduate and graduate students to fulfill their language requirement, and by everyone else who wants to learn Greek. No previous exposure to the language is required. Upon completion of the Modern Greek sequence, students will be able to continue with higher level courses which further develop reading comprehension and are based on passages from modern Greek authors
