GENERAL OBJECTIVE
This course is designed to cover all the bases of the Greek language:
Vocabulary, grammar, usage, pronunciation, and assessment. To help locate
and analyze sources, activities and materials, to develope knowledge, skills,
cross-cultural understanding, and to put this knowledge into practice.
Special emphasis will be on developing self-assurance and encouraging fluency
in conversation.
Instructional Obiectives:
1. General Vocabulary: The most frequently used Greek words, words which students will need to use in various situations in daily life, for health, time, weather, money, travel, for their academic studies.
2. Grammar: Covers the basis of Greek grammar and syntax. In addition to the parts of speach will be the basis of punctuation, capitalization, grammar patterns and practice for classroom examples or drills. Rules of spelling will be explained.
3. Punctuation: To help students learn to distinguish and make Greek sounds, practice Greek stress and intonation patterns in both words and sentences.
Behavioral Obiectives
1. Class attendance is mandatory. Student's failure to attend and participate actively will result in a lowering of grade.
2. It is essential that will read the textbooks concurrently and complete all exercises in the workbooks.
EVALUATION
There will be workbook home exercises, weekly quizes, midLerm and final
exam.
